Origin and Order

Belize was formerly known as the island of British Honduras, but it changed its current name, which was inspired by the name of its largest city, its ancient capital, Belize City. The official language of the island, which is unique from the rest of Central America, and its inhabitants speak Spanish as well as Creole, this island is the only country with British colonial history and heritage in the region.
